Back Up and Running

My computer died yesterday. Its back up and I didn’t loose everything, but I lost a good amount. Unfortuately my backup was older than I had thought it was…

I lost a lot of my recent Greek work, which is frustrating, but its all in my head and it’ll actually be easier the second time.

Most of what I lost was not super significant and can easily be replaced.

I hope.

  1. That’s awful. I hate the feeling when I just lose a single paper. I can’t imagine losing a ton of information like that. But you’re right, it’ll be easier and probably better the second time around.

  2. Sorry to hear about your data loss. Glad it wasn’t everything! I’ve had a few scares in the past, but have been fortunate not to have lost any really significant data yet.

Quick plug for a great solution: I built a Windows Home Server machine several months ago, and love it. It backs up both of our machines every night. I restored to a new bigger hard drive on my computer, and it worked like a charm. Very highly recommended if you have a few hundred dollars or an old desktop machine that’s not being used. You can get a free 120 trial version of the OS to see if you like it before committing to it. That’s what I did.

  3. Thanks Phil, I might have to look into that. Perhaps at Christmas.

If I can find my 8GB SD card, then most of the lost data will be recovered, but right now its nowhere to be found!
