Hellenistic Greek and Stativity one more time

I was just reminded by reading that Role and Reference Grammar allows for transitive states in its adaption of Vendler’s Aktionsart categories. I’ll have to stop by the CANIL library in January to look at Van Valin & LaPolla’s Syntax so that I can get a better idea of how they view transitive verbs denoting states.

And if anyone wants to give me the above book for Christmas, I have no problem with it being late – amazon gift certificates are good too.

This is one of Campbell’s apprehensions for describing the Greek perfect form as “stative” following McKay, Porter & others.
