Is the adjective syntactic slowly being replaced by the morphologically unusual syntactical?

I fear that it is.

And it’s driving my my mental lexicon crazy!

  1. Mike,

    Oh, I sympathize greatly.

I’ve always thought it was a North American versus European (or rest of the world) dialectal difference, but I’ve seen it used more and more by folks in my own back yard.

And it also drives me crazy, as do other morphologically redundant forms like “to orientate” (for “to orient”).
