One more Translation

This is the Message:

Lust for money brings trouble and nothing but trouble. Going down that path, some lose their footing in the faith completely and live to regret it bitterly ever after.

How does this one sound to you?

  1. I was never a fan of “lust for money.” (Doesn’t “love” or “affection” for money, or even the “kissing” of money, make it sound that much dirtier?)

How would Peterson put 4 Maccabees 1:26 in his natural English?

“καὶ τὰ μὲν ψυχῆς ἀλαζονεία καὶ φιλαργυρία καὶ φιλοδοξία καὶ φιλονεικία καὶ βασκανία”

maybe “lust for money and lust for glory,” but “lust for contention”?
