Greek Grammar & the LXX

Henry St. John Thackeray wrote his A Grammar of the Old Testament in Greek according to the Septuagint, Vol. 1 Introduction, Orthography, and Accidence and published it in 1909. The volume was published nearly parallel to Moulton’s Prolegomena. Buth Thackeray and Moulton died before they were able to published the rest of their grammars.

But why, when Moulton’s grammar continued, was Thackeray’s left by the wayside never to be completed?

Does anyone know the history?

I know that Thackeray died in the process of his grand work on the Loed volumes of Josephus in the 1920’s. Did the second volume of his grammar see a beginning draft even in part?
